World Padel Tour comes to Marbella and San Pedro

Did you know that Marbella is the birthplace of padel tennis in Spain? There are a significant number of venues in the area where you can participate in this popular sport, and now Marbella is going to be the first stop on the World Padel Tour 2019.

The tournament will take place from the 17th to the 24th of March at the Palacio de los Deportes Elena Benítez in San Pedro de Alcántara, and to add to the spectator excitement, there will be two courts in play, as there were at the Bilbao Open.

However, the preliminary phase of the championship will be held at the Real Club de Pádel in Marbella. It will involve 150 pairs of players (96 men and 54 women), and the qualifiers in this round will play in the finals at the Palacio de Deportes Elena Benítez in San Pedro. The Marbella Open padel tournament, as some may know, is usually played at the distinguished San Pedro de Alcántara club that is located beachside in Nueva Alcántara.

The Real Club de Pádel de Marbella will be official club of the tournament, which was confirmed by Luis Torres (Head of the WPT’s National Expansion), Manuel Osorio (Deputy Mayor of Marbella) and  Javier Merida (Marbella’s Councillor for Sports).

This sporting event is part of the international padel circuit of events and attending it will give you an opportunity to enjoy some of the Top 10 international padel players in action.

The World Padel Tour is the most important professional padel circuit in the world, and audiences can expect to see the best players in the top rankings. Each year several tournaments are held in different places. These are followed by a final Masters tournament where the eight best pairs of the championship are placed to take part in the annual World Padel Tour.
